Description
Rodelberg Entertainment is a joint project by Roland Wejner and Robin Bretschneider and the realisation of their childhood dream of creating their own point-and-click adventure game.
History
The beginningsAlready as elementary school students, Roland and Robin started using a Commodore 64 and shortly thereafter began to learn the programming languages BASIC and Assembler, and began to program their first games. Classics such as "Maniac Mansion" and "Zak McKracken", due to their appealing graphics and creative puzzles motivated them continiously to delve deeper into programming and writing increasingly complex games, which they subsequently shared with their classmates. However, their project "Monser Mansion", a point-and-click adventure game started at that time never made it past the first development phase.
Realization of a childhood dreamAfter graduating from high school, Roland and Robin went separate ways for a few years: Robin was training as a media designer, while Roland was studying mathematics and physics to become a teacher and started programming educational software in his spare time. When they met again by chance realizing that they were still avid computer gamers, the idea of developing a computer game together was revived. So Roland and Robin decided to realize their childhood dream and program a point-and-click adventure game using an engine they developed themselves: "Spiritless Ltd.". After 6 years of development, it was released for iPads in the Apple App Store in spring 2019. Within another four years, it was ported to Windows and macOS systems using the Visionaire engine by early 2023.
